Bachelor of Visual Arts and Design
Throughout this year I have established a design practice around craftsmanship in contemporary design, engaging in learning the craft of ceramic production. Where appropriate I incorporate modern technology with traditional technique to produce unique outcomes in my work.
I see myself as a multi-faceted designer. While I design and handcraft objects, I also operate as a graphic designer which allows me to create brand and promotional material for the objects I make.
Eugenia is an ambient, softly radiant porcelain lightshade. Cast out of moulds taken from a cut glass bowl, it is reminiscent of family gatherings or special occasions and evokes sentimentality. The interior glazes in summer hues produce a subtle glow when switched on. The smaller scale of these lightshades makes them ideal to be hung as a collection – in line or clustered together at different elevations.
